Jean Carper (born January 3, 1932) is a New York Times best-selling author,^[1] an American medical journalist,^[2] contributing editor to USA Weekend,^[3] and author of 24 books.

Early life and education

Jean Elinor Carper was born January 3, 1932, the daughter of Jethro and Natella Marie (Boyer) Carper, in Delaware, Ohio.^[4][5][6] She is a 1953 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio,^[1] where she majored in speech and was a member of the debate team that won a state championship.^[7]

Career

Carper was CNN's first medical correspondent when the network began in 1980.^[8][9] She has also appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America and Dateline.
